October 27th 1914

27th October 1914   Tuesday

In trenches all day, heavy fighting and plenty of shelling on both sides. Relieved at 5 pm. and went to bivouac 2 miles back, but about 7.30 pm. Germans shrapnelled us during the issue of rations, cigarettes, rum et. No one hit – all sought shelter in time.
