October 20th 1914

20th October 1914   Tuesday

Left Boeschepe 6.30 am marched through Reninghelst, Vlametinge and Boesinghe then to Ypres – where we halted for a couple of hours. Invited into a house for something to eat. Gladly accepted. Jolly good tuck in. The man was a Dutchman but could speak a little English. Heard rumours of a battle raging. Marched on again and billeted 2 miles away in wash house – Dropped across Cmdr Sampson and his men (Navy) with Flying Corp car.
