September 12th 1914

12th Serptember 1914  Saturday

Marched through Beugneux and Braine, raining all day. Billeted in very tight quarters. About 36 of us in a room about 12 feet square, full equipment – greatcoats, packs etc. soaked through. Once we got settled down could not move again -Had to burst windows with rifle butt after an hour for air – scarcely able to breathe.
