30th August 1914   Sunday

Marched through forest to hill south of Soissons – 15 hours marching Complimented by general commanding division who said Guards were the finest marching brigade he had ever seen pass through (SWANK). Time now 3 pm. Rested here for the night . Bivouaced in the open.
